Houli Dunbei Public Child Care Center officially starts to officially provide child care services. Director of Taichung City Social Affairs Bureau welcomes children to join the Center.

It’s time for children to go to school! The first public child care center in Houli of Taichung “Dunbei Public Child Care Center” officially starts to provide child care services today (on the 6th). Parents have been dropping off their children to the Center one after another in the early morning; and Director of Social Affairs Bureau Liao Ching-chih also came to the Center to welcome the children, check the child care environment and guide the young children to get used to the new environment. Director Liao also made an announcement, saying that Jiushe (in Beitun), Delong (in Taiping) and Kuo-Kung Elementary School (in South District) public child care centers would start to offer child care services shortly. These centers are expected to announce student recruitment information in April and all parents are welcome to apply.
“Taichung City charges the lowest fee for public child care services in the country!” said Director Liao. Public child care centers of Taichung charge NTD7,000 per month and, after deducting NTD5,500 subsidized by the city and central governments, each family only needs to pay NTD1,500 per child. “Take a good care of the elder and the children, and the young parents will have no worries” is the philosophy of Mayor Lu Shiow-yen. As the strongest supporter of the young parents, Taichung City Government will continue to, with real actions, encourage young people to give birth and to raise children.
The Social Affairs Bureau explained that Houli Dunbei Public Child Care Center, which was transformed from the unused space of Houli First Public Retail Market, provides child care services for 60 children aged from 0 to 2. Themed on “The Forest of Nest”, the Center has created a warm atmosphere and impression of nature in order to transform itself into a warm and happy home for young children. Furthermore, the Center is not only designed with an activity area, sleeping area, bathroom and cleaning area, but also adopted an open space design to provide various learning activities that stimulate children’s learning process and to create a comfortable, clean and safe child care environment that facilitates children’s development.
Social Affairs Bureau added that Taichung’s public child care center not only charges the lowest public child care service fee in the country, but also had the best teacher-student ratio (1:4). With the efforts of the city government, Taichung City has built 34 public child care centers and 29 of them have already started to provide child care services. Jiushe (in Beitun), Delong (in Taiping) and Kuo-Kung Elementary School (in South District) public child care centers will also gradually recruit students and provide child care services in order to provide parents with accessible and high-quality child care resources and to build Taichung into a city that is friendly to the parents for raising their children.
