  Face equality in Taichung has started to support burn victims and their families
 
Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation started in 2018 a project to promote face equality around Taiwan. It recruited schools and city and county leaders to sign their support. It held a new conference on September 30 at Shenji Community in Taichung City. A marketplace was held at the scene to urge the public to join and support the era of face equality. Deputy Mayor Zhang Guang-yao of Taichung signed a proclamation to build greater Taichung to be knowledgeable, understanding, accepting, and friendly, a city that is suitable for burn victims and their families to live.

Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation held a new conference at Shenji Community in Taichung City today to kick off the Taichung for Face Equality Movement. Deputy Mayor Zhang Guang-yao of Taichung signed a proclamation on behalf of the city. Taichung Social Services Director Lv Jian-de and Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation Executive Director Shu Jing-xian also attended.

Deputy Mayor Zhang indicated that, he, on behalf of Taichung City government, and Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation join hands to promote face equality. They will call on social service and educational departments to educate, promote, and execute equality education and expand the integration of resources. He hoped that the public may become more knowledgeable in face equality to build a more friendly and just society.

Social Services Director Lv Jian-de indicated that since the Baxian dust explosion Taichung City has provided burn victims in central Taiwan with more timely and accessible services. It procured the services of Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation to operate the “Central Taiwan Reconstruction Center for Burn Victims”. In the past three years, it has provided reconstruction services to 84 burn victims in central Taiwan for a total of 12,615 person times. He was deeply aware that burn victims would need a lot of encourage and support for them to reenter society.


Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation Executive Director Shu Jing-xian pointed out that her foundation has engaged in face equality since 2011. It has entered schools and communities to promote the idea, and it has held a series of activities for face equality days. Gradually, it has moved the public to care more and know more about face equality.

A man who has utilized the services of the “Central Taiwan Reconstruction Center for Burn Victims” was also on hand to share his stories. He indicated that his changed appearance has attracted misunderstanding and curious stares from his children and the public. But, he figured, “why should I care about what people think of me? It’s more important to live happily.” He vowed to be strong for the sake of his family. He agreed with the importance of face equality movements.
