According to the Bureau, A-Chen, a student from the Factory lacked self-confidence and in order to help her, teachers accompanied and encouraged her to learn and to gradually build her confidence. Now A-Chen was good at baking. The Factory said, from the beginning, students were trained with bun making. Later, the willingness and capabilities of students were evaluated and teachers gave instructions by patiently guiding them through the steps.
Director General of the Bureau, Peng Huai-Zhen, said the disadvantaged needs to be respected and live independently in a barrier-free environment. During the pandemic, however, many events were cancelled and the income of social welfare organizations decreased sharply. Orders for the Mid-Autumn Festival are one of their important income sources and the Bureau calls for actions to support products made by the disadvantaged.
The Convenor of the Civil Affairs Committee of Taichung City Council, Chang Ching-Fen, said pineapple cake gift boxes made by the Factory were newly added to this year's list of priority purchases. From making to packaging, the disadvantaged students all took a part to comply with sanitary food inspection standards and the quality of these pineapple cakes are second to none. Besides pineapple cakes, the Factory also launched handmade soap gift sets for buyers and their friends. Attendees of today's event included Councilman Chang Nai-Lun and Director of Tanzi District, Lin Guo-Sheng.
The Bureau said priority purchase products include mooncakes, handmade cookies and handmade soap.
