2022-03-01

Gaming and learning zone – Specialists were guiding the parents and children to play together

Shalu Parent-Child Center has been undergone a seismic reinforcement work since the middle of last year. After 8 months of construction works, the Center was reopened on February 15 this year. The entire center has been attentively decorated with a new atmosphere to welcome families living along the coastline. Operated between 9 am and 5 pm (break time between 12 pm and 1 pm) from Tuesday to Sunday, the Center continues to provide not only parent-child activities and curriculum planning services, but also a venue for children to learn freely and interact with their parents.
The Social Affairs Bureau pointed out that Shalu Parent-Child Center, located on the 2F of Children Welfare Service Center, was established to provide children and parents with a comfortable environment for learning and carrying out activities. Considering the safety of the venue, the Center launched a seismic reinforcement project in middle of last year. During the construction period, although Shalu Parent-Child Center borrowed the nearby community activity center and library space to carry out related activities, the parents and children were still looking forward to returning to the Center and using the facilities. After 8 months of construction works, the Center was reopened on February 15 this year.
The Social Affairs Bureau expressed that the reopened Shalu Parent-Child Center has many innovative designs in its facilities, equipment, workshops and activities. The open configuration has the space divided into a number of areas by function, including the library area, arts area, block area, dramatic play area, science area, puzzle game area, physical fitness area, music area, a dedicated area for infants between 0 to 2 years old and a thematic area that has its theme changed every month. The Center also provides children activities and workshops; parent-child activities; child development screening service; parenting lectures; community touring and promotions; infant teaching aid and book (for children between 0 to 3) lending services; parenting consuliting service; little stream friendly service; and Shalu Parent-Child Center’s unique “grandparent caregiver services” that are offered in different places every week.
