The Social Affairs Bureau said that the results of the elderly daycare center held at the Stella Matutina Elderly Welfare Service Station by the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Marywere excellent. In order to provide more comprehensive care to the elderly, city hall collaborated with the foundation to open up the Huihua Evergreen Learning Classroom on the second floor. It combines elderly daycare with daytime care services in hopes of strengthening the social care support network.
Social Affairs Bureau director Lu Jiende said that city hall entrusted the Cycling & Health Tech Industry R&D Center to conduct a circuit body age test at elderly daycare centers. This aims to evaluate the body age and physical shape of the elderly in Taichung before and after their participation in Evergreen Learning Classrooms. A total of 548 elders were tested and the results showed a body age drop of 3 years after participation in elderly daycare services.
Director Lu says that city hall will continue to promote elderly daycare services in the future, allowing the elderly to learn, make friends, and enliven their physical and mental functions in the closest daycare center. This in turn allows their offspring to work without stress and pick up their parents after they get off work.
The Huihua Evergreen Learning Classroom offers diverse courses including baking, English, handicraft and health, etc. A worker in the classroom says that for the elderly, learning English is one of the happiest things. Whenever he hears them applying what they have learned by bidding him good morning in English, it really warms his heart.
The service time of the Huihua Evergreen Learning Classroom, located in the Central District, is Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. Various leisure activities and health classes are organized while delicious lunches and comfortable deck chairs are prepared, allowing the elders to rest well. To apply, please call Mr. Shen at 04-2222-7181, extension 312.
