It is the purpose of Kiwanis International to express concern and provide services for children all over the world. There will be some 700,000 members sharing this particular moment in helping the home for the community centers for children, orphanages, home care entities, and homes for children in order to clean up the environment. This group of socially vulnerable children could share joy with others on this day. Funds and daily items will be donated.
The Taichung Provincial Chapter of Kiwanis Taiwan held the donation ceremony at Tian Ji Temple of Qingshui. President Luo Chang-Chien of Kiwanis Taiwan represented the organization to donate social welfare funds, books, and daily items. The donation was received by the representatives of a number of organizations of child care in Taichung in the witness of Deputy Mayor Lin.
Further to the donation in kind, the Children's Committee of Kiwanis Taiwan has also planned a series of “Helping Socially Vulnerable Children Make Their Dream Come True Scheme – a Science Trip”. In this event, about 200 socially vulnerable pupils from grade 4 to grade 6 in primary schools were invited for team activities, art work, camp fires, and visits to the Taichung Science Museum. It is expected that these children could become optimistic, have team spirit and cooperation with one another through this experience.
Kiwanis Taiwan has more than 15,000 members and is the biggest headquarters in some 400 chapters in 90 countries. Kiwanis Taiwan has donated NT$35 million and tons of daily items. There were more than 10,000 participants sharing Kiwanis Day which benefited about 10,000 children.
