Co-hosted by Social Affairs Bureau, Taichung City Government and Topkey Foundation, 2017 Greater Taichung Corporate Volunteer Day kicked off today, and the number of enterprises increased from 20 to 60 this year, where over 800 corporate volunteers and 43 social welfare organizations came together to offer diverse services, including taking children to visit the National Museum of Natural Science, taking people with visual impairment to ride tandem bicycles and row boats, as well as assisting senior citizens to make potted plants using succulents and play table games. Other activities include community greenification, mountain and river cleaning.
Deputy Mayor Chang and Social Affairs Bureau Director Chien-te Lu both attended the function to present certificates of appreciation to the volunteers. According to Deputy Mayor Chang, social enterprises not only focus on seeking profits but also amplify the benefits of social investment, therefor for the Corporate Volunteer Day, it is hoped that business owners will lead their employees and citizens to engage in volunteer services, regardless of age and gender. The aim is to encourage more businesses to support the campaign, thereby making Taichung a better, more beautiful city.
