Mayor Lin today (18th) was attending the opening ceremony with the Director of the Social Affairs Bureau Jian-der Lu, Chief of Fengyuan District Yi-tsung Tang, Chairman of Taiwan Toy and Children’s Article Manufacturers Association Guo-dong Chen, Principal Long-shen Lee, Central Taiwan University of Sciences and Technology, Councilors Ching-lung Chen, Mei-chun ONG and Jin-fen Chang and the representative of Councilor Ben-Tien Chen office etc. together to send their congratulations there.
Mayor Lin said, after the policy of「One stop child care」introduced, the City Government has invested more resources on the child care services to form one more parent-child center in North District in addition to the first flagship parent-child center established last year in Nantun and the recent initiated Pinglin parent-child center. The upcoming new center will be opened on 30th October and combine the objectives of 「having fun together」, 「learn together」, and 「read together」for the parents to cultivate their relationships with their children. Therefore, all the mountain, coastline and tun area will have their own parent-child centers to move toward the goal of「One parent-child center, one district; one feature, one center」.
Mayor Lin addressed, the stage between 0-6 years old is very important to the children and the parent-child centers will provide the best care and learning services for the parents and children so the parents can have a break to be with their children to「have fun, learn and read together」without any concern. As the population in Taichung is continuously increasing to exceed 2.8 million of people and the city is recognized as the most livable city in Taiwan so the current child care and elderly care policies are used to help the young people to relieve their burden. Then they can live, work and raise their children here with carefreeness.
Besides, Mayor Lin has expressed special thanks to the local Councilors, Ching-lung Chen, Mei-chun ONG and Jin-fen Chang for their concerns and supports to the child care topic.
The officer of Social Affairs Bureau said,「Fengyuan parent-child center」has included four themed area, including baby crawling area, little workshop, little care race track and kid fantasy castle etc. . for the parents and children to have fun. In addition, there are free classes, parents education, story telling, community educational lecture tour and teaching or learning tools and toys lending services for the patients and children at monthly basis.
The officer of Social Affairs Bureau said, the second floor of Fengyuan parent-child center was the mountain line child care resource center before but Taichung City Government has expanded the space for the parent-child center to the third floor with the earnings from the allocated profits of public benefit lottery to meet the demands of many families. The service coverage is expanding to the toddlers to allow more families to enjoy the benefits by split the space into different areas by age groups to have the people a safe and friendly environment where the parents can play and educate their children, meanwhile, they can share the experiences with the other parents as well.
The officer of Social Affairs Bureau said, Fengyuan parent-child center has been opened officially on 18th October, the expanded services are provided for the babies and toddlers aged 6 years old and under with the care givers. The opening hours are 9:30-11:30, 13:30-16:30 every Tuesday to Saturday.
