The Taichung City Government, on March 16, organized “the Real-time Recognition Event for the Flora Expo Volunteers” to give awards to 266 volunteers of the Flora Expo. The Social Affairs Bureau said since its opening at the beginning of last November to the end of February this year, 1,552 volunteers have served more than 60 hours and 68 volunteers for 300 hours. Among them, Yen Li-Chuan, a volunteer from Transport Group, topped the others by serving three times more hours than the standard ones, totaling 918 hours. The Taichung City Government thanks everyone for the contribution of all volunteers to provide good Flora Expo visiting experiences.

The Director of the Social Affairs Bureau, Li Yun-Chieh said there are seven levels to recognize volunteers according to their service hours: 60 hours for Level 1, 100 hours for Level 2, 140 hours for Level 3, 180 hours for Level 4, 220 hours for Level 5, 260 hours for Level 6, 300 hours for Level 7, the highest. At present, Yen Li-Chuan, a volunteer from the Transport Group, came to the top by serving 918 hours. Yen was originally an owner of a factory and after retiring, she served at the Flora Expo almost every day. She became tanned after providing voluntary services outdoors and she said with a smile, “It is very rewarding and fun to do voluntary service work at the Flora Expo.” I ate well and slept well. I even gained some weight.

At the second spot for the voluntary hours was Hsu Wan-Ting who served 875 hours; Hsu is the first female President of the Taichung Gentlemen Association and she called for the participation of her members to do voluntary services at the Flora Expo.
