  Shine Brilliantly! Taichung City Government Continues to Revitalize Guang Fu Village
 
Guang Fu Village located in Wufeng District, Taichung City has experienced through province-downsize of the provincial government and the Jiji earthquake, other than the budgets listed in 2016 and 2017 from the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Taichung City Government for renovating part of the houses, the Social Affairs Bureau, Taichung City Government also assisted domestic and overseas non-governmental organizations with stationed services at the INGO Center, providing spaces for office, meeting, training and hosting events. Director Huai-Chen Peng of the Social Affairs Bureau indicated on October 16th to continue with the revitalization of the Guang Fu Village, to evaluate and develop it into a culture creative park, a youth common good community, a promotional center for the city of volunteers, as well as a symbiotic community for the mentally and physically disabled.
The city council organized the 4th meeting for the 2nd regular meeting for the third year today (16th), where city councilors Shou-Ta Huang, Tsang-Yi Chang and Jen-Chun Huang paid attention towards the future development of the Guang Fu Village.
Director Huai-Chen Peng of the Social Affairs Bureau indicated that the operational conditions for the units stationed at the Guang Fu Village are quite good, and connection between the existing 13 houses under management and the 5th as well as 6th floor of Jing Wu Branch will be planned in the future, providing for relevant groups to station in; the Chaoyang University of Technology and the Asia University in Wufeng will also be invited to discuss the will of conducting University Social Responsibility Program with the Guang Fu Village as the base; moreover, the possibilities of development into a culture creative park, a youth common good community, a promotional center for the city of volunteers, as well as a symbiotic community for the mentally and physically disabled will further be evaluated.
The Social Affairs Bureau explained that the 8 units currently stationing in at the Guang Fu Village include the Rescue Dog Team from the Fire Bureau of Taichung City Government, Bundesverband Rettungshunde e.V. (BRH) from Germany, International Search and Rescue (ISAR) Germany, International NGO Research Center of Asia University, Taiwan Painting Talk Association, Foundation for Yunus Social Business Taiwan, International College of Surgeons – Asia Pacific Section and Taiwan District of Kiwanis International…etc.
Domestic and overseas NGO also visited the INGO center at the Guang Fu Village in succession, including Gudrun Mosler-Törnström, the Vice-President of Istanbul Provincial Council, Austria; the American NGO Future Leader Group; as well as the Japan Bousaisi Organization…etc., with a total of 556 visitors during the 34 visiting sessions up till August of this year.
The City Government also held several educational training sessions, exhibitions and events at the Guang Fu Village, for instance, the Wufeng Studies Exhibition, the International Aid Exhibition, the Greater Taichung Architects Association Public Welfare Spring Tour Event, Linking Taiwan and South Asia with a Cup of Tea, India Day, “Let’s have a Global Mind in Taichung” performance exhibition for International Youth Volunteers…etc., which has attracted many people to participate.
Moreover, chairman Yi-Lu Lin of the Indigenous Peoples Commission also stated that indigenous cultural relics station will be planned at the Guang Fu Village in the future, with sections including the Indigenous Peoples Thematic Image Display Section, Product Display & Sell Section, and Cultural Performance Section…etc.
