More Subsidies Provided for the Pandemic, Relief Coordination of Taichung City Government with Executive Yuan for Pandemic Subsidies Enter Accounts of Citizens Today

To fight the economy-busting effects of the pandemic on the disadvantaged, the Social Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government actively implements the “Additional Subsidy Program for the Disadvantaged to Coordinate Care Provided by the Executive Yuan during the Pandemic Prevention and Control.” Between April and June, additional monthly subsidies of NTD 1, 500 will be distributed and according to the requirement of the Central Government and those on the subsidy list, children and the youth from low-income households (the disadvantaged), the older people, and the disabled who are listed under social welfare subsidies will received the subsidy benefit without having to apply. According to statistics of the Social Affairs Bureau of Taichung City Government, 95, 899 citizens are qualified. Originally, the Executive Yuan planned to allocate the subsidies on the 23rd but Taichung City Government has made the great effort to allocate the subsidies to the post office accounts of the recipients at 14:00 today (the 20th).
Director General of Social Affairs Bureau, Peng Huai-chen said, additional living subsidies are allocated to those under the recipient lists of the disabled, the older people from low-middle income households, the disadvantaged children and youth, and students from low-middle income households (under the age of 18) as well as those who are from low and low-middle income households but not the recipients of the said subsidy benefits. Between this April and June, three months in a row, additional monthly subsidies of NTD1,500 will be distributed.
According to Social Affairs Bureau, the recipients entitled to the living subsidies for the disabled this March first received the amount of NTD1,500 allocated today and in May and June, an additional NTD1,500 will be distributed. If the recipients are entitled for the subsidies in April, May, and June, they will have the subsidy amount allocated to their accounts month by month after being eligible. At the same time, for those who are eligible for multiple subsidy status , they will receive only the monthly subsidies once per month. Taichung City Government uses the most convenient way to assist its citizens.
The Social Affairs Bureau also reminds the public that new applicants for the subsidies will be allocated with the amount according to actual listed time. Furthermore, to respond to social and economic changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for those under home isolation, quarantine, death from the infection, unstable employment, unemployment and suffering economic difficulties, they are eligible to the application from the central or Taichung City emergency relief subsidies and district offices who will decide the subsidy amount according to requirements and review outcome with the allocation of maximum amount of NTD30,000.
To prevent and control the pandemic infection, those with the proof of the disability expiring between April 1st and October 31st this year will be actively extended to October 31st by Taichung City Government. Those eligible for living and rent subsidies for the disabled, during the pandemic outbreak, can continue receiving legal rights and subsidies with their original proofs. If the disability level is changed after re-evaluation, subsidies received during the pandemic outbreak do not need to be paid back.
Director General Peng said the Taichung City Government took the lead to initiate services for the fair allocation of human resources and drills to ensure that the older people and the disabled in communities and institutions will not be affected and safe pandemic prevention and control measures are also implemented at various service sites to care for the disadvantaged such as older people living alone. By incorporating with the civil affairs system, face masks are delivered to their homes to ensure health and safe life of the citizens in Taichung City.
